That night, they decided to start Dignity Pet Crematorium, offering truly personal pet aftercare where every animal would be treated with respect, love, and compassion.
Despite not having a funeral background, they felt driven to create something better. In their back garden stood a derelict Victorian brick kiln with the potential to become a space where pets could be honoured.
They restored the kiln, installed a purpose-built cremator, and created a service centred on individual, respectful pet cremation. Families could say goodbye their way, not with a generic cardboard box handed over days later, but with real presence, real choice, and a peaceful farewell.

Our grounds
While the site has grown over time, the heart of Dignity remains the same. The original brick kiln still stands proudly at the centre of our work. It is now Grade II listed and home to two cremation chambers where many of our attended services take place. Surrounding it are spaces that reflect our shared commitment to upholding Barry and Carole’s legacy, honouring the bond between people and their much-loved pets, and offering a compassionate and respectful farewell.

A note from our owner
Over three decades later, our founding beliefs still run through everything we do. Our founders have sadly passed, but their son Kevin now leads the team.
What makes us different?

We give our best for everyone
Every family, every pet, every goodbye matters. This is not just a job, our care comes from the heart. We treat your pet as if it were our own and always go the extra mile.

We care passionately
Many of us have walked this path ourselves. We know how deep the bond can be and how hard the goodbye is. That is why we’re here to guide you throughout the process. Peace of mind should never have to be asked for. We give it freely.

We keep our promises
When you place your trust in us, we honour it. That means treating your pet with the utmost care and respect, cremating individually, returning only their ashes, and tailoring each farewell to your wishes. It also means following through and honouring our word.

We do the right thing
We hold ourselves to the highest standards, even when no one is watching. If something does not go to plan, we own it and put it right. We listen closely, confirm details, and make sure nothing meaningful gets lost. This applies to how we treat your family, the environment, each other, and the memory of every pet in our care.

If we can, we will
No two pets or people are the same. We always try to say yes to personal touches, from adding a favourite toy to the cremation to including a paw print or fur clipping. If we can do it, we will. If we cannot, we’ll be honest and offer something meaningful instead.
Meet our team
We’re a close-knit, family-run and independent team, guided by the values that shaped our beginnings. More than 45 of us play vital roles, supported by modern facilities and systems, united by a shared passion for helping families give their beloved pets the loving send-off they deserve.
Charities we're honoured to support
We’re proud to support local animal charities in meaningful and practical ways. From offering discounted rates and donating unused bedding, food and medication, to fundraising, sponsoring dog show awards, and providing dedicated spaces in our gardens, we do what we can to help. We also have a charity wishing well in our gardens, with donations shared regularly between animal rescues. Every penny goes directly to our chosen charities to support animals of all shapes and sizes.
Our partnership with Ecologi
Tree planting remains one of the most powerful tools we have to tackle the climate crisis, reduce carbon in the atmosphere, and protect biodiversity. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are proud partners of Ecologi. For every pet we cremate, a new tree is planted. Carefully chosen for biodiversity and native relevance, these trees are planted across Ecologi’s global reforestation sites to help restore natural habitats and support long-term ecological balance. Together with our clients, we are making a small but meaningful difference for future generations, both human and animal.
