On the evening of Wednesday 13th May, Kevin Spurgeon, alongside Annie, Louise, and Meghan, stepped into the Central South Business Awards with hope, pride, and more than a little nervous excitement. We came home with something else entirely: the award for Best Customer Excellence.
We’ve been supporting families in Hampshire and across the South East since 1992. In that time, we’ve supported thousands of people through one of life’s quietest, most profound losses — the death of a much-loved pet. It’s not work that comes with fanfare. It’s work that happens gently, carefully, and with a great deal of heart.
That’s why this award means so much to us. Not because of the trophy, but because of what it represents: independent recognition that the way we care for families truly matters.
At Dignity, customer excellence isn’t a department or a set of procedures. It’s a commitment that runs through every phone call, every collection, every quiet conversation in a Farewell Room. It’s the team member who stays a little longer because a family needs more time. The voice on the end of the phone that doesn’t rush you. The care that continues long after a pet’s ashes have been returned home.
“My parents started this business because they believed every pet deserved to be treated with dignity. Thirty years on, winning this award feels like proof that those values still run through everything we do.” Kevin Spurgeon, Owner of Dignity Pet Crematorium
We were proud to be judged by the team at Lionel Hitchen and to be recognised alongside our fellow finalists Brucan Pubs, circle.cloud, entrustIT, Mandira’s Kitchen and SBTutoring. All exceptional businesses who represent the very best of what this region has to offer.
To every family who has trusted us with the care of someone they loved: thank you. You are why we do this, every single day.
To our team — this is yours.
